Find the right pipe and drape
Trade show booths, stage backdrops, wedding drape or a wall to hide a room: tell us what it's for and the space, and we'll put together complete setups, kit or parts, with every upright, base and panel counted.
What's the pipe and drape for?
Pipe and drape is a frame of uprights and crossbars with fabric panels hung from it. What it's for decides the size, the fabric and whether a kit fits.
How pipe and drape goes together
Every wall is built from the same four parts: a base on the floor, an upright (the pipe) standing in it, a drape support (the crossbar) hooked between two uprights, and drape panels hung from the support.
Walls are planned in 10 ft sections. Sections in a straight line share uprights, so a run of N sections takes N + 1 uprights and bases and N supports.
How many drape panels you need
Most drape is 58 to 60 inches wide, and three panels cover 10 ft with soft folds (about 1.5× fullness). Banjo is 48 inches wide, so it takes four. Sheer is 10 ft wide; two panels give it the gathered look it needs.
Panels are sewn about 2 inches shorter than their height, so they clear the floor.
Bases for the height
Taller walls need bigger bases: 16 × 14 inch bases to 8 ft, 18 × 18 to 12 ft and 24 × 24 to 14 ft. Above that, add a base weight to every upright.
Outdoors, wind catches drape like a sail, so add base weights at any height.
Kit or parts?
A kit has everything for a standard wall or booth, sized and boxed together, and is usually the simplest buy. When no kit fits your height, fabric or layout, the Advisor counts the parts for you instead.

Questions people ask
- How many uprights do I need for pipe and drape?
- One more than the number of 10 ft sections in a straight run: a 30 ft wall is three sections, so four uprights and four bases, and three drape supports.
- How many drape panels for 10 feet?
- Three panels of 58 to 60 inch drape (Poly Premier, velour, Poly Stretch), four of 48 inch Banjo, or two of 10 ft wide sheer, at standard fullness.
- Is your drape flame retardant?
- Our drape lines are inherently flame retardant or treated, and most venues ask for NFPA 701 paperwork. Tell the Advisor your venue needs it and it only suggests drape with that rating.
- What happens when I ask for a quote?
- An EventStable rep checks every part against your space and emails your formal quote. The quote is free, and nothing is charged until you accept it.
